New app: Spraying in the field

At Foulumgård, many of our field trials take place. A large number of them are conducted conventionally to reduce weed pressure as well as the number of pests and diseases. If everyone – staff and students alike – is to move safely around the trial fields, it is essential that we all know when each field has been sprayed.

This has been a recurring topic of conversation, especially among the technicians, as we are all dependent on the weather and the tasks at hand in the field. From this, an idea emerged:
A user-friendly and clear application.

It consists of an app in which our field technicians can register sprayings – and an online part where all staff and students can stay updated.
This makes it easy for everyone to see what precautions must be taken before entering a field.

When a field has been sprayed with a pesticide, there are set rules regarding “Re-entry”. These rules are divided into three time periods:,0–24 hours after spraying, 1–7 days after spraying, and 8–14 days after spraying.

We have chosen to color-code these periods, so it is easy to see which fields have been sprayed and what precautions must be taken.

Additionally, a field can be marked if spraying is planned soon. If you need to enter such a field, it is up to you to contact the responsible field technician to ask about the potential timing.
If you do not know who the technician is, you can contact the operations manager, Christian Mogensen.

So, the next time you are going out into the field – for a guided tour, to collect samples, or to cut plant material – you can check the safety information and take the proper precautions.
