40 years in the laboratory
If you want to have soil, plant or water samples examined, it is, among others, Ulla Husballe Rasmussen you want go to. With more than 40 years of employment and a nice medal of merit from the Queen, there is nothing Ulla does not know about soil samples.
It all started 40 years ago, when Ulla Husballe Rasmussen started as a laboratory student at the Statens Planteavl's laboratory in Vejle. She enjoyed the work here so much that she accepted a permanent position when she finished her apprenticeship.
"I am a laboratory technician specialising in chemistry, and I already thought at that time that it was fascinating to work in agriculture," says Ulla Husballe Rasmussen.
Therefore, the choice was not difficult when Statens Planteavl moved to Foulum. Ulla Husballe Rasmussen followed, and she has been here every day ever since.
40th anniversary during corona lockdown
On 1 April 2020, Ulla Husballe Rasmussen was able to celebrate her 40th anniversary, but it did not turn out quite as expected. While most of Denmark worked from home because of the corona lock down, she was at work with two colleagues.
"We were supposed to have a reception, but so far it has been postponed until after the corona. So, the day was celebrated with my colleagues and at corona safe distance,” says Ulla Husballe Rasmussen, who is looking forward to being able to celebrate the anniversary when it is possible to do so again.
In addition to her work in the central laboratory for the analysis unit, Ulla Husballe Rasmussen also looks after a farm near Lindum with her husband, and she has three girls who have moved away from home.
"So, there is plenty to do," laughs Ulla Husballe Rasmussen, who looks after her daughters' horses and the farm's other hobby animals in her spare time.
The Queen's Medal of Merit
True to tradition, Ulla Husballe Rasmussen was nominated for the Queen's Medal of Merit. You can receive the medal if you have been employed for at least 40 years continuously within the same area of ??employment and payroll authority. In addition, there are a number of other requirements that must be met. Ulla Husballe Rasmussen made it, and has recently been presented with the medal by Jørgen Eriksen in connection with a corona-friendly morning event in the JORNÆR section.
"It's a little fun to receive such a medal, it's not something everyone gets. But I will not meet the Queen, it cannot be done due to the corona situation," says Ulla Husballe Rasmussen, who plans to stay in Foulum until she retires.
"It's a nice place to work, so I stay as long as I can and are allowed," says Ulla Husballe Rasmussen.
