AGRO-researcher appointed as new member of the Danish Council on Climate Change

The Minister of the Danish Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate Lars Chr. Lilleholt (V) has appointed researcher Marie Trydeman Knudsen from the SYSTEM section as a new member of the Danish Council on Climate Change for four years with effect from 1 March 2019. Marie Trydeman Knudsen will sit as one of the seven members of the council instead of Pia Frederiksen, also from Aarhus University, who did not wish to be re-appointed. 

Marie works with sustainability and environmental impacts of agriculture and food production. She has a special focus on developing and improving life cycle assessment (LCA) methods to calculate climate footprint and environmental impacts of food and other bio-based products, and to include soil carbon changes and biodiversity in the method. 

In November 2018, Professor and Dean Peter Møllgaard, Maastricht University, became the new chairman of the Danish Council on Climate Change. The council now consists of the following members:

The Danish Council on Climate Change is an independent body of experts that provides recommendations to the Danish government about how Denmark can live up to its climate goals and commitments. The council gives advice on how the transition to a low-carbon economy can take place in a cost-efficient way with markedly lower emissions of greenhouse gases while at the same time maintaining welfare and development.
