COVID-19 in families with children

We are currently receiving many questions about how families with children should act in connection with suspected COVID-19. Therefore, the following applies in AGRO.

What do I do if my child is unable to attend day care or school due to suspicion of COVID-19?

As a rule, you are obliged to attend work, even if you lack care for your child. It is up to you to find alternative care options.

However, you can arrange with your section manager / team leader that you can, for example, work from home or use flexi time or holidays.

If the child is ill, the rules for absence due to the child's illness apply.

Specific questions and answers from the Danish Health Authority's website

How should members of the household react if one of the members falls ill?

Danish Health Authority: Parents and siblings of a child who is at home with symptoms that may be COVID-19, but who have not yet been tested or are not being tested, do not need to stay at home themselves. They can go to work, school, go shopping, etc.

Is snotty nose a sign of COVID-19?

Danish Health Authority: It is quite common for the nose to run with clear snot when the child is out in cold weather or if it is crying. If this is the only symptom your child has, do not suspect COVID-19. But if the child seems sick, sluggish and tired and has symptoms, such as lots of yellow-green snot, feeling sick and coughing, you should keep it at home from school or day care.
