Energy savings

My contribution to Biweekly could hardly be about anything other than energy savings. In recent weeks several emails have been circulated under the heading of energy savings. The rapidly increasing prices of electricity and heating have made it necessary for AGRO to adopt drastic measures in order to alleviate the effect of the markedly rising running costs.

Many probably ask themselves how is it that we are landed in this situation. The explanation is quite simple. AU does not pay electricity taxes; this means that the costs of electricity have not received the attention as they have in private households where all have changed to LED lights and replaced old domestic appliances with new models that require less energy. One may also wonder why solar panels were not installed many years ago on the large roof areas which we have in both Flakkebjerg and Foulum, of which many are in the right direction as we have a large electricity consumption in both Flakkebjerg and Foulum.

This is all history, and this will no doubt be rectified in the coming years, but here and now it is a question to making the reduction of the energy costs a joint cause. I experience a large interest in contributing to achieving this goal, and many old refrigerators and freezers have already been taken out of service. At Flakkebjerg a number of electricity meters will be bought so that we can see the energy consumption of the various appliances for ourselves. This will no doubt lead to considerations of replacing much of the energy consuming equipment.

With this I call on you to make a joint effort to reduce our energy bill so that we will have more funds for our core activities.
