In October 2020 following a political agreement, it became possible for the first time to apply for our frozen holiday allowance. Your holiday allowance corresponds to the number of days, which you have earned from 1 September 2019 - 31 March 2020. Initially, it was possible to apply for 3 weeks, and end of March it will be possible to apply for the remaining holiday allowances.

We are currently experiencing a bit of confusion about the frozen holiday allowances in regards to who can apply. We know that everyone has received a letter from “Lønmodtagernes Feriemidler” stating that you can apply for your frozen holiday allowances, regardless of whether you have actually earned holiday allowances or not.

It is important to stress that this only applies for employees, who were on the ordinary, Danish holiday scheme, and this does not apply for employees, who were on concurrent holiday in above period of time.

If you are a foreign employee on concurrent holiday, you have been able to take/use your holidays as soon as you have earned them. Therefore, you do not have any frozen holiday allowances to be paid out. This means that you are not entitled to frozen holiday allowances, and your status on www.borger.dk will be zero.

Unfortunately, the first payout of the frozen holiday allowances was released before all employers had actually transferred the holiday allowances to “Lønmodtagernes Feriemidler”. This means that foreign employees have mistakenly been able to apply for and receive frozen holiday allowances, even though they have been on concurrent holidays, and thus have no frozen allowances. If this applies to you, it means that you have to pay the allowances back. In that case, you will have a negative balance on www.borger.dk, and you will find a message that you will be contacted in relation to the correct allowance.
