MARK excursion to University of Copenhagen

Fascinating research facilities were on the programme for MARK’s annual excursion.

The annual excursion for MARK led the 35 participating staff members from the section both out in the cold and into the warmth on 8 October 2015. The MARK perople were on a visit to the University of Copenhagen at Højbakkegard in Tåstrup, where they viewed outdoor and indoor research facilities.

Part of the trip went to the Pometum, where only a few staff manage the extensive collection of fruit and berries - including 750 varieties of apple.  The excursion also included a view of a brand new facility that makes it possible to follow plant root growth. The tall, vertical facility is being used in the research project Radimax, which Aarhus University also participates in. Read more about the project and the facility here (in Danish) and here.

- During such an excursion all MARK staff have the opportunity to meet and talk with each other across the boundaries of geography. We gained inspiration and new knowledge by visiting University of Copenhagens's research farms. It was very interesting to see their facilities and exciting that they work with completely different topics than the ones AGRO deals with, says Karen Eberhardt Henriksen, section leader in MARK.
