Pedal-pushing for AGRO

We have been pedalling hard in the month of May and cycled a total of at least 19,200 km in the national campaign ”We cycle to work”.

In the month of May the staff at AGRO have been extra busy on their pedals, just like hundreds of other employees in Denmark who participated in the national “We cycle to work” campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to get more people to drop the car and instead take the bike to work, both for the sake of your health and the environment. And it works!

At Aarhus University, the 136 participants had by 31 May registered 1,264 cycling days during which they had pedalled 20,941 km. According to campaign calculations, this has reduced CO2 emissions by 3,413 kg, burned a total of 518,289 kcal, resulted in 29 fewer sick days and saved society 26,825 kr. And all that in just a month!

René Larsen from KLIMA has for a number of years been the Foulum enthusiast in the campaign, and has, among many other things, coordinated the campaign. He also knows how many were taking part from Flakkebjerg and can reveal that this year there were six teams from Flakkebjerg/Foulum:

  • Soil is sexy (16 participants)
  • Climate bikers (16 participants)
  • AU Foulum mix (16 participants)
  • Cykelsprøjterne 1 (13 participants)
  • Cykelsprøjterne 2 (14 participants)
  • ANIS is awesome (10 participants)

Some of the teams also included employees from MBG, ANIS, FOOD, ICROFS, DCA, DRIFT and ADM.

The latest results show that of the six teams from agriscience, Climate Bikers came out on top, cycling for a total of 206 days and covering approximately 3,900 km. In short, the combined group from agriscience of 85 participants produced the following results:

Number of cycling days: 898

Distance cycled, km: 19,200 (approximately)

Flakkebjerg put up two teams (Cykelsprøjterne 1 & 2); some of them are here caught on camera::

This bicycle probably didn’t contribute to ”We cycle to work”. However, during this period eggs were laid, chicks were hatched and the young birds have now flown the coop:
