PhD students are the centre of things at the Grand Meeting
The annual meeting for PhD students and their supervisors – Grand Meeting – will this year focus on thesis writing.
AGRO’s PhD committee is presently working on preparations for the annual PhD Grand Meeting, which will take place on June 1, 2017 in Aarhus. This year will once again offer an exciting and topical programme!
The main theme will be thesis writing because this is something that preoccupies all the students. Even when you are in the beginning of your PhD studies writing your thesis is not right around the corner, you will early in the course of your PhD meet writing challenges. Many of the tips you will get with regard to writing your thesis can also be used when writing scientific articles, grant applications, popular science articles and blogs.
Apart from the focus on writing, talks will be given about assessment during the PhD with a special focus on the role of the supervisor. Tove Hedegaard Jørgensen is responsible for these talks.
We have also invited Jes Madsen to come and give a talk about plagiarism. He has agreed to sit in the "hot seat" afterwards and answer questions from the students and supervisors. GSST has initiated screening of all theses for plagiarism and Jes will inform us and answer questions about this.
The day will be a combination of interesting presentations and related group work. It means a lot to the PhD students that their supervisors also participate in the meeting so I strongly encourage everyone – students as well as supervisors - to come to the meeting.
The evening prior (May 31) the students will have a social event. This year it will have a touch of Aarhus 2017 - European Capital of Culture about it. The aim of this evening is to get to know each other better across geographies and to prepare questions for the meeting on June 1.
The final programme and possibility for registration will be sent out at the end of March but you already now mark the date in your diary.
