Update: practice regarding employment after the PhD study

AGRO department management has on a meeting 27-05-2021 approved an update of practices relating to the period between the submission and defense of PhD students

From a PhD student has submitted his/her dissertation and to the defense it takes 2½ months; a waiting period during which the PhD work is evaluated by the assessment committee (GSTS Rules and Regulations) and the student prepares for defense.

In order to ensure equal conditions and transparency for AGRO's PhD students, the following applies to employment in AGRO after the PhD study.

As a rule of thumb PhD students are not recruited during the waiting period. This means that the student must, as a general rule, finance the period from the time he/she has submitted his/her dissertation to the date of the defense.

In special cases, employment can take place immediately after the submission of the dissertation. This applies if the person in question is employed in an advertised position for a period of at least 2 years. This must be agreed with the head of department and funding and assignments must be clearly agreed. Posting and employment will be according to the applicable HR rules.

Employment without an advert may take place after the dissertation has been approved for defense and with the number of months in which there is work and financing (max. 12 months). This is also agreed with the head of department and is done according to the current HR rules.
