We succeed together – strengthened collaboration across Flakkebjerg
A strong professional community does not grow by itself – it requires dialogue, openness and mutual curiosity. Therefore, it was with great satisfaction that we in Mark Flakkebjerg were able to invite the entire research centre in Flakkebjerg to participate in a field trials tour on 16 June. This event was a tangible manifestation of the wish which was put forward in connection with GRUS in January 2025: to strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing between technicians, researchers, students and other employees across Flakkebjerg.
The technicians group in Mark Flakkebjerg consists of approx. 30 employees with widely different skills and levels of experience. This diversity is a strength – but it requires that we talk to each other and learn from each other’s projects. With an increased focus on onboarding and support for new researchers and students, we have also seen the need for better communication and clearer interfaces in connection with project applications and trial planning. Here, the technicians can contribute early in the process, for instance with knowledge about resource needs, costs and trial technical possibilities.
The field trials tour was an overwhelming success with approx. 60 participants. In three exiting sessions, researchers and students presented their experiments in close interaction with the technicians who help in making the ideas become a reality in the field. This was an eye-opener for many – and a proof that chance talks at the trial plots sometimes can be just as valuable as a formal meeting. When we talk, both planning and execution become better – and the results stronger.
The event ended with a small happening at which our new shelters were given the name “Camp Flakkebjerg” – a suggestion from Kirsten Jensen in the Secretariat. BYG had lit the barbecue, and the atmosphere was great. The professional community was celebrated with food, smiles and good talks.
We would like to send a big ‘thank you’ to all who participated and contributed. Collaboration and curiosity are at the core of our work – and that really became clear on that day in June.
In the autumn we will invite you again – this time with a focus on the greenhouses. We hope that even more people will want to drop by and take part in the professional community which we will continue to develop.
Because we do not succeed alone.
We succeed together.
