Workshop Shapes New Master’s Program in Plant & Soil Science
In the beginning of December, scientists from The Department of Agroecology and The Department of Food Science met at the Center of Education Development (CED), AU Aarhus, to design our new master’s program in Plant & Soil Science.
The day focused on making draft course descriptions, sharing feedback, and discussing whether key compe-tences were missing or not fully reflected in the degree profile. Guidelines on how to define course purposes and measurable learning outcomes ensuring each course contributes clearly to the overall program were pre-sented by CED. The workshop also had focus on exam formats aiming for a balanced portfolio and coordina-tion across profiles and electives assuring alignment with learning outcomes. Overall, we had a productive and focused day, successfully working through the key aspects of our new program.
The program will be organized into three tracks: Plants, Impact, and Soil. Second semester, students must take at least two mandatory courses from these tracks, while the third can be chosen as an optional or elective course. This structure ensures a strong foundation across the core areas, while still giving students the flexibility to shape their studies according to their individual interests. First intake of students will be in August 2027.
