Field trip to Gram Slot: Agroecology in practice

Students from the MSc course Organic Farming – Systems Analysis, Product Quality and Environment recently visited Gram Slot, where theoretical perspectives were explored in the context of a modern organic farming system.

During the visit, Svend Brodersen, who has managed the estate and its agricultural operations organically for more than 30 years, provided a comprehensive introduction to the farm. The students gained insights into key topics such as biodiversity, groundwater protection, and the development of resilient production systems.

An important part of the visit was also to understand how agroecological principles are embedded within broader value chains – including the collaboration with REMA 1000, through which products from Gram Slot reach consumers.

The excursion gave students the opportunity to work with systems analysis in practice and to see how academic concepts are translated into concrete solutions in agriculture.
