Work culture in a corona age
2020 has been a year that in many ways has and continues to be challenging. We can also look forward to having to live with the corona's shackles for at least another six months. Corona restrictions affect our work life, our physical workplace, and the daily dialogue and sparring. In other words, our daily dealings with each other and thus our work culture is under pressure.
In the spring, most of us had to work from home, and there was a lot of support from everyone, so the social and professional relations were maintained, even if it was done online. We got to see each other's living rooms, kitchens, children's rooms, cottages, etc. It was challenging back then, but in reality we are still challenged because of the corona situation. However, the awareness of this is probably not as great as it was in the spring. We are not very many who are gathered at the workplace at the same time, some work from home, others at different times of the day. And we all try to take care of our jobs as best we can, given the situation.
But when only a few of us are gathered at the same time and place, it not only affect the social life in the workplace; the professional sparring is also being fragmented. And that can be problematic. Situation therefore places new demands on all of us, both managers and employees. We need to be better at actively seeking out dialogue and contact with colleagues.
I would like to encourage sections and operating units to make corona-friendly events where you can see eachother and meet. In addition, I strongly encourage you to remember to have the meetings necessary to ensure the right guidance and sparring. The responsibility for this lies not only with the manager or supervisors, it is just as much a task for those in need of guidance and sparring.
Therefore, reach out, participate in events, and remember each other so that we can maintain the good work culture, as part of the cornerstone at AGRO, and which we also maintained in an alternative way during the spring lockdown.
