The only constant in life is change
I started as an office trainee in Foulum in the Autumn of 1984, and since then I have worked in many different functions.
Before Christmas, I agreed with Jørgen that I could step back as head of the secretariat for AGRO and continue in a position where the focus is on the department’s strategic development in the administrative area. Prior to an announcement in the department, there were some practical things we had to clarify. It is now in place and the position as head of secretariat has been advertised.
As I wrote in my editorial back in September 2023, there have been major changes in much of what we work with in the secretariat in the past few years. Big overload of work has piled up in the secretariat. This has meant that tasks have either not been carried out or have been delayed for a very long time. Therefore, I have not had enough focus on leadership and setting the course for the entire secretariat. We hope to be able to solve this with the new distribution of tasks.
Fortunately, we only have very skilled secretarial employees who have been good at taking responsibility and self-management. That is why we have solved most tasks anyway. Thank you!
The new position as head of the secretariat will focus on coordination, delegation, and management of administrative tasks at department level, e.g. in relation to support for research, authority service, training, committee service, recruitment, etc.
In future, my tasks will be, for example, support for the head of department regarding the department's finances, sparring partner for project managers regarding project finances that require solutions that are beyond what our project controllers can contribute. In addition, strategic and operational financial management work around the experimental facilities in AGRO must be done with.

I hope that the department will benefit as much as possible from the knowledge and experience I have accumulated through a long working life, and I am pleased to be allowed to end my days at the labor market in a way, so I also feel joy and satisfied with my effort.
