GDD is right around the corner; SDD will begin this summer

The annual staff development dialogues will be held this summer. Prior to that, group development dialogues will be held in the sections and secretariat with a focus on skill development.

In the department's annual cycle we have come to the time at which we normally have staff development dialogues (SDD). This year we have decided to do something new. Prior to the individual SDD, there will be group development dialogues (GDD).

The GDD will be held in the research sections but since some of the sections are rather large, it can be beneficial to divide them into smaller groups. For example, in JORD we will divide the section into VIP, TAP and junior VIP groups.

The GDD will set the framework for the individual SDD that follow thereafter and will give the group the opportunity for direct communication with Erik Steen Kristensen. It will be possible to gain mutual feedback on the past year's activities and set the framework for the coming year's activities on the section and department levels. There will also be great flexibility in the content of the meetings from group to group.

In AGRO our strategy is to target our efforts regarding skill development even more to ensure that we constantly have the necessary composition of employees and qualifications. In the GDD we will therefore discuss which skill developments that are needed in the future based on AGRO's departmental strategy.

The following points should be discussed at the GDD:

The past year: Tasks that have been solved, results that have been achieved

The work situation in general: Working climate, including collaboration with colleagues and the section manager

The coming year: Tasks that must be solved in the coming year and which skills and development are needed to do so

Can be supplemented with the following:

How do our activities link up with AGRO’s strategy plan

How do research, teaching and  research communication fit into AGRO’s flagships

Challenges/successes specific to the section

SDD follow GDD

When the GDD are complete, the individual SDD can be held. The SDD will again this year be carried out with the aid of the company Musskema.dk and will consist of a form with checkboxes. Compared to last year, we will place even more emphasis on skill development. This means that we will use a skills web as a supplement to the familiar MUS form.

Every year we determine a theme for skill development. The theme could be a timely issue or a focus point from the psychological work place evaulation. This year we will focus on personal skills in connection with innovation and collaboration.

Features of a good SDD in AGRO:

The following elements are important for achieving a good SDD and employee recognition:

  • Openness – time and space
  • Good structure – there must be a common theme in the conversation
  • The focus should be on the future and the employee's development
  • There should be good preparation beforehand and continual follow-up
  • The dialogue is confidential between the employee and his or her immediate supervisor
