Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dear All,
I want to start by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The year has certainly not been 'business as usual'. We have been tested on our patience and flexibility, and we are all getting pretty corona-tired. But we can all praise ourselves for the fact that the department has come so graciously through the year. Experiments have been carried out to a large extent, and data have been collected. We should be happy about that. Many applications and articles have been written during our work from home, and many applications have been granted.
There will always be decisions that in retrospect where incorrect, for the country as a whole, but also for our department - it cannot be avoided. As Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said: mistakes will be made.
A good sign that we have done well is that there has only been a very limited amount of infection between the employees. It shows us that the rules on keeping distance, hand washing, etc. have worked.
Yet many of us miss everyday life: even though online meetings have their advantages, you miss a lot in the absence of direct contact, where you can stick your head into your colleague's office and ask; we miss Friday bread (or whatever you have of events in the individual sections); many of us miss the staff club events or, for example, sports activities in a work context; and last but not least, we have had to do without the Christmas lunch.
Hopefully, vaccines are now on the way so that we can return to a more ordinary working life and everyday life - most of us need it.
A small curiosity fact: because of the COVID-19 crisis, we have begun to lack, among other things, pipette tips with filters, the filter material is currently used for the production of facemasks!
I would also like to remind you that representatives of LAMU must be elected, as there are several who do not want re-election. That is why we need new faces in all areas of office, field, and laboratories for this exciting and very relevant work!
And last but not least to the unlucky few who are sick at the moment: Good recovery
Merry Christmas to everyone!
