They expect that a collection of competences, tasks, and functions can:

  • Strengthen the teaching skills of all educators - and thus ensure students the highest academic level through involving high quality teaching.
  • Serve as a driver for implementing knowledge of the latest university educational insights and practices.
  • Enable better collaboration, knowledge sharing, and coordination of efforts across the university.
  • Sharpen the opportunities to build even more expertise with the centre's staff - both in general pedagogy and specialist functions.
  • Strengthen the ability to meet external requirements, e.g. new executive order structure.

The joint university educational centre will be a part of the rectorate. A new centre manager is appointed, he/she will reference to the pro-rector. Anders Hyldig, current head of the EDU-IT unit, continues as head of the field of technical digital support for teaching. The positions as head of function for the other two functional areas are planned to be made public before the summer holidays. In addition, a secretariat will be set up to operate the centre, current secretariat staff members will be moved here.

AU will continue to prioritise close contact with the academic communities and targeted support. Through increased specialisation, educators are expected to be able to get even better advice and service. All subject areas must have a direct entry into the centre to a contact person or team that specialises in the subject area's didactics and education.

The proposal has been discussed in relevant working committees, and the process has been conducted in accordance with current guidelines. Right now, the comments received from the committees are being evaluated and the final decision is expected to be made by the university management 15/4.
