Save the date: Open Science – friend or foe?

AU’s Open Science Forum would like to invite you to a theme day about Open Science on 12 October 2023, where researchers from all subject areas will have the opportunity to learn more about Open Science and related tools that they can use in their own research practice.

Info about event

Time

Thursday 12 October 2023,  at 13:00 - 16:00

Open science is basically about making scientific research and data accessible to everyone. This alone is a new paradigm in the way in which researchers share knowledge with each other and the outside world, and the idea is gaining ground, not least because the European Commission now requires openness as a condition for research and innovation grants.

Aarhus University has successfully expanded the idea to make openness an integral part of the actual research. University researchers and industrial businesses are collaborating on generating fundamental new knowledge and innovation, which is openly available to everyone and no-one may take out patents.  On the other hand, everyone can then freely exploit this knowledge to develop and patent their own unique products.

The theme day will take place on 12 October 2023 from 13:00 until 16:00 in lecture theatre 1253-211 (Merete Barker) in the Lakeside Lecture Theatres.

The theme day will give you:

  • a clearer picture of what Open Science is
  • knowledge of how Open Science can increase the impact of your research and help as many people as possible to benefit from your work
  • tools to navigate the principles of Open Science in practice

The programme will include presentations by experts and AU researchers, who will contribute input from their own professional experience. You will receive the full programme soon – but, for now, please save the date in your diary.
