We made it!
AGRO’s new research task regarding drainage agents and constructed mini-wetlands is proceeding according to plan, helped along by targeted and skilled efforts from the employees involved.
As mentioned in the previous issue of Biweekly and at the senior VIP meeting in Flakkebjerg, AGRO has been asked to carry out an extensive research task regarding constructed mini-wetlands and drainage agents.
Preparing a detailed project description has been a rush job, since the project description had to be ready before the end of November. There have been many challenges along the way regarding coordination, collaboration, time pressure, and financial possibilities, but we made it! We reached the goal before deadline and the project description was sent to The Danish Agency for Water and Nature Management (SVANA) and the Danish Agrifish Agency (NAER) on November 22, 2016.
- This quick and coordinated effort bears witness to the fact that AGRO’s staff can pull together and I would like to thank all the employees who have worked hard to get the proposal for the project description ready on time, says Erik Steen Kristensen. Among the staff that were involved were employees from all four AGRO research sections in Foulum as well as from DCA and Bioscience.
The customer is satisfied
Erik Steen Kristensen held a meeting with SVANA and NAER the same day that they received the proposal.
- They were pleased with the proposal and immediately started calculations on it – especially with regard to the efforts regarding constructed mini-wetlands with a matrix, he says and continues:
- I have already received a reply regarding the budget for the sub-project concerning constructed mini-wetlands with matrix saying they would like us to proceed to establish one at Flakkebjerg. This work has therefore already been initiated.
Cross-disciplinary tasks require collaboration
Names have been assigned to the sub-projects in the project proposal. Until further notice, the overall leadership of the project consists of Jørgen E. Olesen, Mogens Greve and Erik Steen Kristensen.
- It is important that we collaborate in the department with regard to solving these tasks so that the relevant and best competences come into play, says Jørgen E. Olesen.
- AGRO’s research in various aspects of nutrient turnover and hydrology in low-lying areas, and soil drainage has been increasing in the past 10 years. The policy support task requisition from SVANA hits the bull’s eye in this area of competence. Our challenge is to gather and coordinate AGRO’s knowledge across researchers and research projects, says Mogens H. Greve.
