Welcome to the new LAMU (local occupational health and safety committee)
In the autumn of 2023, we had elections for the LAMU, or rather, there was no need for a contested election this year.
Fortunately, most of the members of the outgoing committee were willing to be re-elected, which ensures a certain continuity in the work, and hopefully the work can continue in the same positive and constructive spirit as before. Something new is that Land-CRAFT in Aarhus is now also represented in the committee – welcome to you; I look forward to working together with you!
The committee is characterised by diversity in several ways, as we come from several locations: Foulum, Flakkebjerg and Aarhus; we work in different areas: laboratory, field and office, and actually the committee is composed of members from two different departments due to QGG’s presence at Flakkebjerg.
Our work ranges from handling/discussing and preventing occupational injuries, tours of our workplaces with a view to improving ergonomics and safety, planning of evacuation drills, proper handling of chemicals and use of machines all the way to the follow-up on the workplace assessment (WPA).
Recently, we all received an email regarding a survey carried out by VIVE about sexism among PhD students: https://tech.medarbejdere.au.dk/en/news-and-events/news/show/artikel/universitetsledelsens-kommentar-til-vive-rapport-udgivet-den-20-marts-2024
Here, I would just strongly urge you – in case you experience something transgressive – that you talk about it with others, and you are of course very welcome to contact a representative from LAMU.
In general, we are available if there are any problems with the working environment or with safety, or if you have any questions, so:
