AGRO Department Forum

Objectives

The AGRO Department Forum represents all staff and functions as an advisory board to the department management with the following objectives:

  1. Ensure idea development, quality, transparency, and legitimacy in decisions on academic issues.
  2. Ensure the department's academic- and social identity as well as coherence.

Tasks

Through continuous and timely involvement, the head of department must ensure co-determination with respect to academic issues in a broad sense. The head of department will discuss important issues within research, talent fostering, knowledge sharing, and education with the AGRO Department Forum.

The AGRO Department Forum may comment on statements regarding all academic issues of substantial relevance to the activities of the department and has a duty to discuss academic issues presented by the dean, or the head of department for its consideration.

The AGRO Department Forum communicates the agenda, discussion topics, recommendations, advice, and opinions to the staff via minutes from the meetings and with additional dialogues/communication to the staff at section meetings and other department meetings. The AGRO Department Forum also holds the right to speak directly to the Dean.

Working

The annual topic cycle of the AGRO Department Forum will comprise:

  • The strategy of the department
  • Thematic discussions of fundamental questions
  • Budget
  • Appointment and recruitment policy
  • Professor policy
  • The physical and social surroundings in the department
  • Co-determination and development of management structures and management types
  • Student environment and well-being

The meetings will be held in English.

Composition

  • Head of Department
  • Department member of the academic council
  • Head of Secretariat
  • 9 permanent VIP representatives (senior-VIP, incl. tenure track and AC-TAP) – 1 from each research section
  • 2 representatives for researcher, assistant professor, and postdoc (junior-VIP) – 1 from Jutland and 1 from Zealand
  • 2 representatives for PhD students – 1 from Jutland and 1 from Zealand
  • 2 student representatives – 1 BSc and 1 MSc
  • 2 technical administrative representatives – 1 from Jutland and 1 from Zealand
  • 1 forum coordinator

Duty period

Permanent staff is elected for 4 years, whereas staff on temporary contracts and students are elected for 1 year. The current period started on 01-04-2025.
