Committees in AGRO

A SeniorVIP meeting is held once a year as part of involving the tenured members of academic staff in the decisions concerning the department’s strategy and scientific development. The purpose of the meeting is primarily to discuss the scientific development and strategy in AGRO. Another important purpose is to exchange views and to increase knowledge of colleagues and research areas across the individual sections and geography.

In addition, the department has a number of committees which are described below. Ad hoc committees are not described.

AGRO department management

The Department management team consists of the Head of Department, the six Section Managers and Heads of Secretariat. The Department management team meets 10-12 times a year, see members of the departmental management and meeting minutes (in Danish with English summary). A typical agenda for a meeting of the Department management team will include the following items: finances, application strategies, staff, public-sector consultancy as well as news from business-, PhD- and education area.

Policy support committee

The committee coincides with the department management and aims to:

  • Acts as an adviser to the head of department in relation to the development of the department's strategy in the area of policy support and in relation to the implementation of the faculty's guidelines for advice to the authorities, including the quality management system
  • Coordinates in relation to the overall operation of the department's policy support consultancy, primarily on the "Ydelsesaftale Planteproduktion" with MFVM and DCA.

Research committee

The committee also coincides with the department management and aims to be advisory to the head of department in relation to the development of the department's research strategy and in relation to research issues:

  • Discuss and advise on the formulation of major research initiatives
  • Coordinate and advise on major research applications
  • Discuss possible initiatives to strengthen external and internal cooperation
  • Discuss recruitment plans
  • Discuss and advise on internationalization initiatives

Department Forum

The departmental council represents all staff and the department and is an advisory board for the department management with the objectives:

  1. Ensuring ideas generation, quality, transparency and legitimacy in all decisions on academic issues
  2. Ensuring the department's academic and social identity and coherence

Liaison Committee (LSU)

Through the organisations entitled to carry out negotiations all employees have the possibility to stand as a representative for the Local Liaison Committee (LSU). This organ offer good opportunities for involvement in local collaboration in which decisions and new ideas can be discussed and developed between management and employees, especially concerning the department’s financial situation, structural changes and other decisions regarding the organisation of work, see more at LSU page.

Occupational health and safety committee (LAMU)

As regards the working environment a Local Occupational Health and Safety Committee (LAMU) has been set up, which – based on current legislation and AU guidelines – deals with local problems. This committee meets approx. 4 times a year, see mandate here. This committee also covers QGG at Flakkebjerg. 

PhD programme committee

A GSTS PhD programme committee has been set up, which provides advice to the department management team in all matters concerning PhDs. The programme committee also prepares recommendations to the chair of the graduate school GSST, and the members of the committee evaluate applications, participate in examination of students, etc. (see GSTS rules and regulations). The committee consists of 5 seniorVIP and 4 PhD students. 

The PhD degree programme committee has prepared a number of guidelines for the students in AGRO

Degree programme committee

A degree programme committee has been set up. Among other things this committee provides advice in relation to the department’s degree programmes and to teaching offered at AU. The committee consists of 7 seniorVIP. 

Business and Innovation committee

In order to increase the dialogue and the collaboration with the business community AGRO has set up a business and innovation committee. The committee works at objectives, mapping of interests and prepares a yearly report for the faculty’s business committee. The chair of the committee is a member of the faculty’s business and innovation committee.

ST’s academic council

The department has 1 seat in ST’s academic council, and the representative is elected for 4 years.

Laboratory committees

Committees has been set up with representatives from relevant sections and TAP representatives from the laboratory in both Flakkebjerg and Foulum. The committees aim is to:

  • Prepare an overview of investment needs in equipment. Advise the department on investment and possibly be involved in the purchase of new laboratory equipment
  • Prepare and maintain an overview of laboratories and laboratory functions at AGRO
  • Prepare and maintain an overview of the division of responsibilities for the use of equipment

Committee on field equipment

Field experiments are a very important and resource-intensive research facility in AGRO, which is why continuous optimization of equipment is central.

The committee main purpose is to ensure well functioning field experiments and collaboration across the department. The committees aim is to:

  • Prepare an overview of investment needs in equipment. Advise the department on investment and possibly be involved in the purchase of new field equipment
  • Prepare and maintain an overview of field equipment at AGRO
  • Prepare and maintain an overview of the division of responsibilities for the use of equipment

Data Management Committee

AGRO department management has formed the committee, which refers to the Head of Department.
