A SeniorVIP meeting is held once a year as part of involving the tenured members of academic staff in the decisions concerning the department’s strategy and scientific development. The purpose of the meeting is primarily to discuss the scientific development and strategy in AGRO. Another important purpose is to exchange views and to increase knowledge of colleagues and research areas across the individual sections and geography.
In addition, the department has a number of committees which are described below. Ad hoc committees are not described.
The Department management team consists of the Head of Department, the six Section Managers and Heads of Secretariat. The Department management team meets 10-12 times a year, see members of the departmental management and meeting minutes (in Danish with English summary). A typical agenda for a meeting of the Department management team will include the following items: finances, application strategies, staff, public-sector consultancy as well as news from business-, PhD- and education area.

Through the organisations entitled to carry out negotiations all employees have the possibility to stand as a representative for the Local Liaison Committee (LSU). This organ offer good opportunities for involvement in local collaboration in which decisions and new ideas can be discussed and developed between management and employees, especially concerning the department’s financial situation, structural changes and other decisions regarding the organisation of work, see more at LSU page.
As regards the working environment a Local Occupational Health and Safety Committee (LAMU) has been set up, which – based on current legislation and AU guidelines – deals with local problems. This committee meets approx. 4 times a year, see mandate here. This committee also covers QGG at Flakkebjerg.
A GSTS PhD programme committee has been set up, which provides advice to the department management team in all matters concerning PhDs. The programme committee also prepares recommendations to the chair of the graduate school GSST, and the members of the committee evaluate applications, participate in examination of students, etc. The committee consists of 5 seniorVIP, 4 PhD students and a secretary. A degree programme committee has been set up. Among other things this committee provides advice in relation to the department’s degree programmes and to teaching offered at AU. The committee consists of 7 seniorVIP.
In order to increase the dialogue and the collaboration with the business community AGRO has set up a business and innovation committee. The committee works at objectives, mapping of interests and prepares a yearly report for the faculty’s business committee. The chair of the committee is a member of the faculty’s business and innovation committee.
The department has 1 seat in ST’s academic council, and the representative is elected for 4 years.

Field experiments are a very important and resource-intensive research facility in AGRO, which is why continuous optimization of equipment is central.
